Hot Tub & Spa Electrical
Installation Bay Area
Sub-panel, GFCI, 50–60A circuit, permit — handled. Often combined with EV charger installation for one trip and one permit. CSLB C-10 #1134931.
⚡ Pro tip: Combining a spa sub-panel with an EV charger circuit saves $800–$1,500 vs. doing them separately — one permit, one crew, one trip.
What Hot Tub Electrical Requires
Every hot tub and spa requires a dedicated 240V circuit with GFCI protection per NEC 680. Most spas draw 50–60A, which means a proper sub-panel installation if the main panel is more than 20–30 feet from the spa location — which is almost always the case in Bay Area homes.
