Lucid Air Home Charging: Why an 80A Circuit Makes a Difference
The Lucid Air is a technological tour de force — 500+ miles of range, 19.2 kW AC charging capability, and Silicon Valley DNA. Lucid was born in Newark, CA, practically in our backyard. To get the most out of the Air's industry-leading AC charging, you need an 80A circuit. ChargeWizards specializes in high-amperage installations throughout the Bay Area.

Installation Notes for Lucid Lucid Air
- →
IMPORTANT: The Lucid Air's 19.2 kW onboard charger is only fully utilized with an 80A EVSE on a 100A breaker. Most home chargers cap at 48A (11.5 kW). If you want the full 40 miles/hr charging rate, we need to run an 80A circuit.
- →
For many Lucid owners, a 50A circuit (48A charger) is a practical compromise — you get 28–30 miles/hr and still charge a full Grand Touring (118 kWh) in about 10 hours.
- →
80A circuit requires 4 AWG wire, a 100A breaker, and a 200A panel. This is a slightly more involved install but the Lucid Air deserves it.
- →
Lucid Air uses J1772 for Level 2 AC charging — every standard charger is compatible.
- →
ChargeWizards has installed 80A circuits for high-performance EVs throughout the Bay Area. We know how to do this safely and up to code.

Permit required for all 240V work. We handle permits and inspections in all Bay Area cities.
