Tesla Cybertruck Home Charging: What Bay Area Owners Need to Know

The Tesla Cybertruck is the most ambitious — and most talked-about — EV we charge in the Bay Area. With a 123 kWh battery, it needs a well-planned home charging setup. ChargeWizards has installed chargers for Cybertruck owners across San Mateo County and the Peninsula.

Installation Notes for Tesla Cybertruck

  • The Cybertruck's 11.5 kW onboard charger is the same as other Tesla models — a 50A circuit is the standard recommendation. However, because the battery is 123 kWh, we recommend sizing up to a 60A breaker (72A max via #4 AWG) if your panel allows — this future-proofs the install and may marginally improve recovery speed.

  • With a 123 kWh battery, even at 11.5 kW you're looking at 11–12 hours for a full charge. Most Cybertruck owners charge nightly and rarely let it drop below 20%.

  • The Cybertruck is heavy and may require a garage that can support it. Check your garage floor load rating — most residential concrete slabs handle it fine.

  • For 100A panel homes, the Cybertruck's large battery makes DPM critical. Without it, charging may trip your main breaker when HVAC and other loads are running simultaneously.

  • Tesla's Wall Connector power sharing supports up to 4 units on a single circuit — if you have a multi-Tesla household, this is a cost-effective way to add Cybertruck charging without adding another circuit.

  • ChargeWizards pulls all permits through your city's building department — typically San Mateo, Redwood City, or Palo Alto. Permit cost is included in our quotes.
