Installation Notes for Tesla Model 3

  • Model 3 uses NACS — the Tesla Wall Connector plugs in directly. For third-party J1772 chargers, use the Tesla-provided adapter (comes with the car).

  • A 50A breaker with 6 AWG wire delivers the full 11.5 kW the Model 3 can accept — no need for a larger circuit.

  • For 100A panel homes in San Mateo and Daly City, we frequently install Dynamic Power Management (DPM) so you can charge without a panel upgrade. DPM costs $1,200–$2,000 vs. $3,000–$5,000 for a panel upgrade.

  • Model 3 Standard Range (60 kWh) owners can often get by with a 30A circuit, adding roughly 22 miles/hr — plenty for daily driving under 60 miles.

  • Conduit runs to detached garages typically add $800–$2,500 to the install cost. We handle all permitting through your city's building department.
