What Affects EV Charger Installation Cost?

1. Conduit distance

Every 10 ft of run adds wire, conduit, drilling, and labor. A 50 ft run can cost $400–$700 more than a 10 ft run.

2. Panel capacity

100A panels often look full but rarely need an upgrade. DPM (Dynamic Power Management) lets you charge safely without one — saving $2,500–$5,000.

3. Indoor vs outdoor

Outdoor installs need weatherproof boxes, sealed conduit, and sometimes pillar mounts. Adds $200–$500.

4. City and permit

San Francisco DBI permits and Hillsborough estate permits take longer and cost more than Peninsula cities. We handle all permit work.

5. Trenching

Detached garages or driveway installs may need underground conduit. Trench runs typically add $1,200–$4,000 depending on length.

6. Condo / HOA

Shared panels, individual metering, and HOA approval add complexity. We've handled it all under CA AB 1228.

DPM: How We Save You $2,500–$5,000

Many electricians quote a panel upgrade by default. We don't. Dynamic Power Management uses a CT sensor to monitor your home's real-time load and throttles the EV charger when needed — keeping you safely within panel capacity.
